Migration from restrictive groups to projects

Since version 14.7 of the application, Cyberwatch has introduced Projects, a new method for managing permissions that allows finer control over your users’ rights.
Projects will replace groups for rights management. Groups will remain used as labels to facilitate organization.

In the absence of a migration on your part via the assistant (documentation), Cyberwatch will proceed with an automatic migration, as described below.

Automatic migration

  1. On January 31, 2026, users restricted by groups and not migrated will automatically be downgraded to auditor status.
The introduction of projects also aims to grant more rights to system administrators.
Downgrading users to auditor status will prevent any unwanted privilege escalation.

  2. On April 30, 2026, groups will no longer be used to restrict access to assets.
Users restricted via groups will automatically be assigned projects where possible.
Access via groups will no longer function.

By default, restrictive groups will automatically be migrated into projects, and assets belonging to only one restrictive group will automatically be assigned to the corresponding project.

For other assets, they will not belong to any project.
