Oracle Cloud discoveries

You may use Oracle Cloud discoveries to list all your virtual machines on an Oracle Cloud tenancy.

Prerequisites

  • the Oracle Cloud tenancy OCID
  • the tenancy home region
  • the user OCID

This information is accessible by clicking the Profile icon in the top right corner, then on the user and the tenancy.

The home region must be entered as the identifier (e.g. eu-paris-1) and not the key (e.g. CDG). The identifiers are available on the page: https://docs.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/Content/General/Concepts/regions.htm.

The user must belong to a group (named for example Cyberwatch) for which a policy has been defined with the following statements:

Allow group Cyberwatch to read instances in tenancy
Allow group Cyberwatch to read virtual-network-family in tenancy

Configure API access

You can configure access from the Stored credentials menu in the lateral bar, then by clicking the Add button. In the form, select the type Oracle Cloud, then enter your information.

Next, click on the newly created credential and copy the public key that was generated. In the Oracle Cloud interface, add an API key to the user:

  1. In the top right corner, click the Profile icon then your username
  2. Go to the Tokens and keys tab
  3. Click Add API key
  4. Choose the option Paste a public key and paste the key copied from Cyberwatch
  5. Confirm by clicking Add

Create the discovery

  1. From Discoveries, click Add
  2. Click Oracle Cloud in the Cloud infrastructure category
  3. Enter the name of the scan
  4. Select the optional project and groups associated with the scan
  5. Choose the source of the scan (the Cyberwatch machine that will run the operation)
  6. Using the Credentials selector, pick the Oracle Cloud account registered in previous steps
  7. Select the discovery mode in order to choose which information will be used to list the discovered assets
  8. Choose a recurrence. The default value 0 days means the scan will be launched only once
  9. Optional - Select an agentless mode connection credential
  10. Click Confirm

When created, the discovery is immediately started as a background task. You may check state of the task any time from Discoveries.
